I understand how you feel…

It never ceases to amaze me how powerful this one sentence is. Sometimes we fight and bicker with those that we love the most. Our ego minds are so invested in being “right” that often we will sacrifice being right over being happy. We all could use a little more peace in our lives and a little less stress. So…next time you are having a conflict with somebody especially when they are very upset just let them vent their feelings and your only response can be “I understand how you feel” you can change it up a bit and say “It’s understandable that you feel that way” or “I understand”. Each time you repeat this sentence and put the ball back in their court you will watch their anger diffuse. Remember this sounds easier than you think. They will possibly attack you, your feelings , your actions, your world. Focus on the prize…peace..Would you rather be right ? or happy? the choice is yours….
